I was asked by the Shillington, Sydney team to create some new content for our 2 day magazine layout brief. We agreed on a skate magazine which would represent and empower female skate culture.
Searching for stock photography of authentic female skaters is more difficult than it sounds. Luckily our amazing Marketing & Communications assistant “Amy Gardner” is a skater herself and my co-teacher at the time, Maddy Richie, an experienced and amazing photographer. With me as acting Art Director and one of our students for extra support our dream team hit the streets of Sydney. We shot three locations in one hour over lunch and still had time for a sandwich.
After writing the brief and putting together all the assets I designed a teacher example to present to the class prior to starting the magazine layout brief. From cover and layouts through to the brand and promotional collateral.
Using illustration to tell the story of Adam and Eve with a rebellious, tragic and pro feminine asthetic that represents the under represented and ignored pro female skaters within the industry. The illustrations to be used for an internal free poster, stickers and deck designs.
